However, it's an OLD camera and could have a lot of things wrong with it. Things you get with the RE and other later bodies include: - - options for data back, winder, motor drive - - changable viewing screens including a split-image - - auto exposure - - more sensitive metering system. - - options for metering system. - - hot shoe - - choice of lenses that won't work on SL - check with Leica in NJ for list. The list goes on. For $2,000 you would have many choices other than the RE/Zoom. I'd look around some more. If the SL has been recently overhauled and is in great condition, you could start there and eventually use it as a backup body. Hello LUGgers, I was offered a Leica SL plus a 2/50 Summicron for $625. And a Leica RE plus a Vario Elmar 28-70 for $2000. The SL has got minor scratches and a few unfortunate cleaning marks. Not on the lens, though. The RE is new, as in New In The Box. I like the RE, but think the SL price is more reasonable. Could you please help me take the right kind of decisions..
