Eric, just stay away from the earliest version of the M2. On this one you have
to hold the button in place while you rewind. The later button release worked
normally,i.e. you pushed it in and it stayed in while you rewound the film. I
cant remember the exact serial # range for the change over, somewhere around
#935 000 or so.
 M2's are great cameras, uncluttered viewfinders, rugged construction and the
35/2 combined with the M2 body is "the perfect camera" if such an animal can
exist. Try to pick up an extra take-up spool, they do drop on the floor and
dissappear and a spare is handy. Check viewfinder for clear, unfogged glass
and also check the rangefinder calibration ( the two indicator squares should
not be out off alignement and should coincide at infinity). Check filmadvance
for smooth action and once all of these things are established, by film (lots
of it) and enjoy the camera.
