Okay- I'll plop my 2 Cents worth... I thought the prime focal length for any
given format was the diagonal of the negative. Supposedly this was somehow
connected to the way we saw things, perhaps the focal length of the eye has
some relationship to the diameter of the retina (?)
Any opthalmologists out there?
