Tina,
I hesitate to say too much about Greece since it is over 12 years since we =
were there, but then again the country is somewhat "timeless" and would =
hold today much of the same beauty. We spent time in Athens and on the =
Greek Islands. If one word to describe Athens is dirty, then the word to =
describe the Islands is pure colour, [at least in August.] Athens has =
fantastic monuments and history of course and should not be missed. At =
this time of the year, the Islands will be pretty deserted, as many of the =
shops and businesses close for winter and their owners return to Athens. =
Having said that, and having seen your wonderful internet site, your Leica =
seems to mainly train on people and in particular children. If there were =
children on the Islands, we did not see them. During the tourist season, =
one saw tourists, and the business community, but only a handful of true =
locals, and most of these seemed to be old. For me, the shapes and =
colours, the pure light, and the ancient feel of the land was the =
attraction. We made a few "people" images of the men riding donkeys and =
fishermen mending colourful nets, but not any of "life" on the islands. =
For this, I suspect you should be heading into the country side of the =
mainland. Now I am out of personal experience here, but friends report a =
fantastic and unspoiled country full of "Tina-opportunities". Oh I believe =
the southern coast of Turkey holds the same attractions and is only a =
"skip" away ;-)

Alastair.
