I have a middle-aged 135/2.8 Elmarit-R -- 3 cams, but old enough to take
series filters.  It's an excellent performer -- very sharp, nice and
contrasty.  Some of my favorite pictures of people were taken with it, and
I've also used it for a lot of macro work (on a bellows) and closeup work
(with an Elpro).

I think the reason it's cheap is the same reason the 50/2 Summicron-R is
cheap: it's very, very common.
