I don't have Canadian cumulative CPI data to hand, but the economies are so closely linked that using U.S. CPI data is probably reasonable. CDN$90 in 1967 was US$81 (exchange rate then was $0.90CDN/US). Inflation from 1967 until today (as measured by U.S. CPI) has been a factor of 4.83, meaning that those US$81 had the buying power of US$391.23 today. At the current exchange rate of CDN$1.00 = US$0.73, that's CDN$535.93. I don't know price of the Leica 21mm finder, but I'd be surprised if it were much more than US$391 or CDN$536. Sorry to harp on this, but the notion that Leicas (or most other things) used to be much cheaper is something of a personal bete noire. - -Patrick
