Hi Jim,
When I saw the very nice LUG Logo, I was wondering myself when the question
would come up. Unlike Robert Rose, I am not a specialist in trademarks. I
can share with you my experience with Leica before I became an authorized
Leica dealer. I posted in my Shutterbug ad items that said Leica new with
USA warranty; Even though I was in the process of receiving my dealership,
I received a letter from Leica and Shutterbug advising me not to put the
word new unless I am an authorized dealer. This might explain how touchy
they are about dealers who are not authorized but not necessarily about a
user group. In my opinion the rules are clear about using a logo and you
must first obtain authorization in written form. They might however
overlook that in this case.(I hope)
I hope this was somewhat helpful
