I have a local friend who is an extremely talented photographer and darkroom technician. Franco works in all formats from Leicas up to 8x10. An avid traveller, he makes a point of seeking out the exact same photographic sites that Ansel photographed. Armed with the patience of Job, an understanding of light that I'm in awe of, and a wife with loving patience to match his, Franco waits, photographs, waits and photographs some more. He brings beautiful images back that we ooh and ahh over, but, good as they are, Ansel's are better. With our convenient archive of Ansel's original work here at the Center for Creative Photography at the University of Arizona campus, it gives us the opportunity to compare side by side. *This* is why I'm all agog over Ansel! - -- Roger Beamon Naturalist & Photographer Leica Historical Society Of America mailto:beamon@primenet.com Thought for the day: Romance begins when you sink into his arms, and ends with your arms in his sink!
