Probably the book is "The Leica", subtitled "A History Illustrating Every
Model and Accessory" by Paul-Henry van Hasbroeck.
Yes, the photos are excellent and very large. It even has a real index! You
could do a search on www.bibliofind.com to see what current used prices are
like.

For a new book in your price range, Laney's "Leica Collector's Guide" is
good. I probably reference it more than any other because of its organized
chapters and Leica part-code index and serial number tables. I think it is
around $75 new. I read a few pages and everybody thinks I'm an expert. . .
