Perhaps the reason these lenses are made LTM is so that you can use them on either LTM cameras or on M cameras. A lot of people still shoot the LTM bodies and the Japaneese know this and are probably trying to hit as broad a market as possible without having to manufacture 2 versions of the same lens.
