It would seem that the drive train for the "M"s needs more torque - ergo more batteries & more weight & thereby defeats the idea of a small lite-weight "decisive moment" shooter. Personally, if Leica was to make a wind-up motor today, similar to the MOOLY, I would stand in line to buy one, Just think - no batteries.
