BUT ----- for editing or test comparisons or simply just looking carefully at my slides, I have an old manual Leitz Prado 500 with a 300 watt bulb as the 500 heats up my den like crazy, because the cooling fan is so efficient that it blows all the hot air out. The P500 is similar to your VIII-S but doesnt have the long base or transformer. I have 90, 100 & 120mm Hektors in addition to a 90 colorplan & I really dont see much difference with the colorplan. The main improvement was about 5 years ago when I decided that it was time to clean them. Another reason for the Prado is the interchangability so that you could use it for 2.25x2.25 if you wanted to, but this is a nuisance as you have to change condensers as well. It is an unusual model with a large fan base (not water cooled) that the projector sits on. The serial number is A192 (any collector comments?) Slide trays are definitely not an issue!
