I bought a new M6 in April, because of the rebate. I didn't need to wait 
for it--the camera store ordered it, then took $500 off of the price when 
I picked it up. They told me that this is normal--the rebate and 
paperwork is taken care of by the dealer. I was very pleasantly 
surprised, because I'd expected a long wait.

Maybe my experience is different because I had to special order it. If it 
was existing stock that the dealer had purchased before the rebate went 
into effect, it may work differently.
