I use mine in the near range on my M6 all the time with no problem.

I routinely remove my DR from my M6 with the lens set at its closest normal
range focus point. Again, no problem.

Nope, anywhere in the normal focus range works fine.

Once attached I have full use of all DR fuctions on my M6.

Is it possible that there is move than one design of the M6 and DR Summicron?
Perhaps I should take a ride to AA and compare lenses/bodies with you.
