You cannot switch to the near range on an M6. There is a sheet metal flange on the bottom on the M6, which prevents it from going to the near range. The M3 does not have the flange. 2. To detach the lens, you have to focus to at least 4 feet or more to clear that flange. Forcing it could damage your M6. 3. Likewise for attaching the the DR; you should have it at infinity. 4. Once attached, the DR summicron will focus all the way in on its far range. Just don't try to pull up over the notch to get to the near range. - -- S. Khai Mong Imageware Inc, 323 N.
