I'm really surprised that this is even an issue!!! Lenses have had to be,
and have been, cleaned since they were invented (17th century???) My simple
point is that there are several "approved" methods for cleaning lenses from
the relatively new microfiber to the very old standby Kodak lens cleaner &
lens tissue. I personally like ROR and a clean soft cotton cloth for the
heavy stuff and a microfiber cloth for the light stuff. If a lens cannot
stand-up to being cleaned, it's not much of a lens. David, don't ever watch
a service technician clean your lens. They'll have to call the paramedics.

The only way a lens can perform to specifications, is to be ABSOLUTELY
clean. Clean your lens!
