What they failed to realize was that it was a gift of both my time and my money. I don't require folks to suck up to me, but when they whine about what I DO do, eh, well, it irks me. Now about Solms - do you REALLY feel that they've turned out an inferior camera in the M6? If so, why do mine work so well? When I look at and use my new lenses, I feel that they are better constructed and better performing than the old ones I use. Now, I realize that the DR Summi is a machined work >To say that they're not of "Leica quality" is horsehockey. It's a myth. You could say that about anything, but until the proof comes - thirty or so years down the road - no one really knows how these cameras will hold up to use. Do not use the terms Leica Quality Synomously with "Leitz" quality On pg 8 of the LHSA Viewfinder that I just received today is this letter from Negishi Nobuyuki - and I am quoting - "Most Japanese camera lovers are sad to see the fact that a simple AF point-& shoot camera totally developed & made in Japan by an unidentified maker is now sold under the great name of Leica. We believe a respectable Leica must have German origin & a large commitment in production, We dont think that the Minilux is a Leica. Worse is the fact that the actual manufacturer of Minilux is never disclosed. If it were sold under the actual brand name, its price would be less than half.: This is the point that I have been trying to make The Leica's M6 & R8s are fine German cameras But they are not worthy of the name "Leitz and I think the Leitz family was aware that this would happen & wouldnt allow their name to be used by the new cement making conglomerate As I wrote before - this is only an opinion & not worthy of an argument "If you reach for the moon & miss - you will still end up with the stars."
