Since they've had the technology since the Leicaflex, and have proven it with the 6.2, I would expect that the next M could have a 1/2000 to 1/4000 top end, although I don't get much use out of speeds at or above 1/1000 using the Rs. I'm still impressed with the sound and capability of the shutter in my SL2. I had it checked out a couple years ago, along with an R3 that was exhibiting some exposure problems. The R3 tests showed its shutter to be erratic; it was off by more than 25% at some speeds. The SL2 was dead on from 1s to 1/2000. The person doing the test was quite suprised to see a 70's manual camera do so well. Chris Hoover cdhoover@pacbell.net
