Richard,
 the 50mm  Bright-line accessory finder (disctd.) would solve your
"blinking" problem.
Sometimes for sports I attach an old 135mm finder unto my SL2  after
pre-focusing (Leica thread!)

My swedish 120 box-camera Hassle-Blood 500 SLR does not have the
viewfinder-blink; it's very ingenious: If the open waistlevel shows the
image, I can take the picture, after it turns pitch-black, I know I have
taken the pix and the bang of the mirror gives me an audible signal, that
it happened.

Those small M Leicas clicking so softly make it difficult to hear that; no
wonder people- subjects pay no attention to the photographer.
 That can be murder for your ego!

That red Leica Logo is far to small IMHO, only Pro-Thieves tend never to
miss it.
