That technique worked fine with my Weston Master IV, but it's a real pain with the M6. A couple of times I tried to take a reading from the hand, note the difference, adjust the exposure on the camera check again etc. I don't even know why I tried. You can usually find some grass, blue sky, old asphalt or someone else's skin to meter from. Or use sunny 16, or guess, or......
