Modern autofocus is very very good, B U T is it good for you? Are you shooting sports, auto racing, track & field, stuff coming at you or going away from you at a rapid rate. For normal photography, I H A T E autofocus. You really have no control over depth of field. Focussing and depth of field (what's in focus and what's not) is as important as exposure. If you don't set your f-stop and point of focus (which is not necessarily on a prominent object) you do not have control. Your photograph should be your creation, not a creation of your camera's electronics. As mentioned above, there certainly is a use for autofocus. But unless your livelyhood depends upon photographs of fast stuff, I'd opt for a good R6.2, R7, or that other R camera, uh, uh, oh yeh... R8. How often, in Africa, will you be so close to fast moving animals that you'll really need autofocus? I'm asking because I don't know. This is just my opinion... I'm sure you will hear others which are opposite. Jim
