The incident meter is a secret the camera manufacturers don't want you to know about. there are still a few cases where in-cmera meter is nice, though. Yesterday I was photographing Hawks cruising the edge of Crater Lake in oregon. I was shootng down from the cliffs with the birds going in and out of the sun reflections on the water. Exposures changeing rapidly. Interestingly, using the N90s on center weighted, then on matrix, that the matrix read the sunlight on the water that filled the frame and opened up two stops versus the same scene with center weighted. But on other scenes evenly lit by sun, the meters read identical. Hope the R8 meters as good. Donal Philby San Diego
