It is as manual as you want it to be (manual focus, manual exposure setting), yet it is fully automatic if you desire. So you can decide wether to work or not. Lenses range from 28 to 90 mm, there is also a 16 mm Hologon avilable. Compared to a Leica, the Contax is a bargain (approx. half the system price), and it features some advantages, Leica cannot offer in the rangefinder class: TTL Flash metering, finder with exposure info, integrated autowinder and so on. As this camera is electronically controlled, it is not as quiet as a rock, as you are used from a Leica. The Zeiss lenses are definitely amongst top of the world, you would barely be able to tell Contax prints from Leica prints. If you can live with a camera which is doomed without battery (The Nikon F3 is, too, at least almost) you should take a look at the G2. Maybe it is the right thing for your needs. Frank
