Others (including myself) have noticed this "viewfinder flare", particularly in the M6 finder (I never saw it in my M2). In my experience it has been present mainly in dim light when a bright light source is far off to the side. Someone posted that it was a design limitation related to the design of the viewfiner to accomodate wider (28mm) focal lengths. Supposedly, covering up the illumination window with clear tape will reduce the effect.
