The most recent one, the currently available Elmarit-M. This lens and the Summicron 50mmf/2.0 are probably the best 2 lenses amongst currently produced glass. >In your view, how do the 90/2.8 Tele-Elmarit and 90/4 M Rokkor for CLE >compare to these? Of Leica's 4 90mm lenses, the Elmarit-M, the Tele-Elmarit-M, the Tele-Elmarit and the Elmarit, todays Elmarit-M is the best, followed by the Elmarit in second-, the Tele-Elmarit-M in third- and the Tele-Elmarit in fourth position. Don't get too exited about the classification though, the differences are small, show predominantly wide open and almost disappear when stopping down. The 90mmf/4 Rokkor was a lens produced by Leitz Wetzlar. Although its optical construction was identical to todays Elmarit-M, its performance is comparable to the Tele-Elmarit-M. Quite confusing, the names of past Leica 90mm glass, isn't it? Gerard Captijn, Geneva, Switzerland. E-mail: captyng@vtx.ch Fax: +41 (22) 700 39 28
