Even with more expensive serigraphs of paintings. When the original is displayed near the reproduction, the failings of our scanning/separation/printing system are obvious. Reproduction techniques are improving though--consumer level printer technology now boasts 1440 dpi resolution for $300! Still, I like to see original art on my walls; even if I can afford only my own prints (...and the impact is not quite "Ansel"). Of course, we probably all devour images from books, newspapers and magazines on a daily basis. They are essential to learning photography at every level; especially commercial photography which you will rarely see on gallery walls. Chris Hoover
