The Curved Field type is unique in that it gives a sharp image for "unglassed" slides. These have a tendency to bend somewhat during projection due to the heat from the projector lamp (corners can not be sharp at the same time as the center of the slide). So, if you are using unglassed frames I would suggest to go for the CF type. Both types will work, but the CF gives optimum performance in that case. Not many manufacturers actually have such a special lens type. Leica has the COLORPLAN 90 mm f/2.5 and COLORPLAN 90 mm f/2.5 CF. The CF lens costs 4.500 Belgian Francs, that is more or less 130 USD, taxes included. The SUPER COLORPLAN 90 mm f/2.5 is only available in flat field type. The Super Colorplan is said by Leica to be even better than the Colorplan. Given the high quality of the latter, however, I do not really see much need in upgrading to the Super Colorplan, especially since I am using unglassed slides. Note that the Super Colorplan can not be mounted on a Leica P150-P155 projector. All Colorplan lenses are MUCH better than the Hektor 85 mm f/2.8 which normally comes included with the projector.
