Hi,
I have been using a third-party M grip. I forgot the manufacturer
but it is made of metal (maybe aluminum), black finished. It is ok
but kind of small and short to hold it with three or four fingers.
Another drawback of it is you cannot use the self-timer when it is
installed. The lengh of it covers about 2/3 of the body.
Regards,
David

Harold,
At the last Photokina (september 1996) I've had the opportunity to
handle a Leica M6 with Leica's grip. The grip is very nice (it matches
the camera), it's only drawback for me is the fact that it's almost
entirely made out out of plastics. Not very nice for an "all metal"
camera if you ask me.
For sturdiness go for the "pirate one", for looks go for the Leica grip.
