No, I told him, I >didn't need more Nikons in the closet. I need one camera system that I'll use. >"Then I'm going to do you a favor," he said, "I'm not going to sell you an M6 >if you trade in any of your Nikons. Because after the novelty of the M6 wears >off, you'll realize its limitations and you'll want your Nikons back." So I >left, not sure if the salesperson (who uses an R7) did me a favor or not. > >Thoughts? > >Larry Kopitnik > > I have used the Nikon system for years and the Leica rangefinders for about three. I have not found that the leica rangefinders are better than the Nikon SLRs and vice versa. In fact they are complementary. There are occasions when I find the Nikon superior (close ups and macros, flash photography, long teles and wide angle shots, need for autofocus, and most times when I go on holiday) and there are occasions when I find the M6 an advantage (street photography, candids, some portrait and people shots). I tried very hard to like and find a niche in my style of photography for the Contax G1 and then the G2 but neither have failed to excite me. Presently, about 40% of my shots are taken with the Leica, 30% are with Nikon and 20% are with my Rolleiflex/Hasselblad. My pocketable P&S Olympus fulfills the remainder. Dan Khong
