I am not sure about the "glue" failure, but I do know about problems
with the rear elements of the tele-elmarit and the current version of
the 90 Elmarit.

The problem is that the rear element is sweated into the lens barrel,
making it impossible to completely disassemble the lens and clean the
rear element.

So if the rear elements of one of these lenses needs cleaning,  consider
promoting the "special effect" Leica lens you save for special
occasions.
