If you are not in black tie and looking like you are supposed to be there, you stand out like a sore thumb. You also make some of the attendees uncomfortable, because they automatically assume you are "press" and that's bad news for some of the high profile folks. This is also the place where the M6 shines when it is black body. You hang it on your shoulder and it just blends with the tux and when you shoot, it's click-click and down before anyone realizes you've shot.
