Subject: A question for M6 users

My only camera with through the lens metering is a Canon F-1. I use
the spot meter focusing screen which shows a slightly darkened
round area in the center of the viewfinder. It's very easy to
know what is being metered, regardless of the focal length being
used.

With my M4 or M3 the area being metered by the MR4 meter corresponds
to the 90mm frame, so I can easily tell what is being metered.

But with an M6, there is nothing in the viewfinder to indicate the
meter's area of sensitivity. Also, from the Leica M6 catalog, there
doesn't seem to be any way of knowing how far over or under exposed
you are, and so it would be difficult to quickly determine zones. At
least that's my understanding.

The MR4 meter is hardly accurate enough for critical work. I always
bracket when using just the MR4. The Canon's meter is far better, (I
normally take two frames, 1/2 stop apart), but I still like to use a
hand held spot meter to be sure if I'm only going to get one chance
at a photograph.

The question is, how useful do you find the meter in the M6,
especially if you frequently use more than one focal length?
