Liked the compact size of the 2.0 but the 1.8 was the best Nikon lens I ever owned, shockingly good sharpness and contrast. As an aside I also had the 80/1.4 R Summilux for several years. I THOUGHT it was good because it felt so good and was fine at mid-apertures. But when I actually tested it wide open up to 2.8 it was VERY soft. So soft, in fact, that I sent it back to Leica New Jersey for testing. They forwarded it to Solms for "optical testing". I never saw the lens again. Leica called to say there was nothing wrong with the lens mechanically but that it had failed Leica's optical tests. Given its excellent, but not perfect condition, they offered me a new one for $585. They said I could substitute the 100/2.8 APO Macro, which I did. It has been excellent through the aperture range.
