I am wondering if we are talking about the same cameras.  My M6 has two
small screws where you say you have the knobs.  And the screws heads are
almost flush with the back.  In any case, when the door is swung open, the
ISO dial bumps into the plug for the flash contact, so the door can't open
far enough to come into contact with the upper part of the camera body.  In
fact, it seems to come to a stop before it touches the ISO dial.   As far as
the plastic part of the wind lever is concerned, it too never comes into
contact with any part of the camera, except the metal part of the wind
lever, and there are no scratches there at all.

I'm going to have to have a look at a recent M6 the next time I'm at a
camera shop.
