     Hi David,

I also heard a lot about poor 28-70. It sounds like it is a black
     sheep of the Leica family.
When it comes to 35-70, I know there are two versions with filter
size of E60 and E67. E60 is the first generation made in Japan
(possibly by Minolta) followed by E67 made in Germany. I have noticed
the price difference in the same condition was significant. I am sure
design is different but wonder if the difference would be worth the
price difference. In other words, I wonder if I have to pay that much
more money for Germany over Japan. If the newer design is better, is
the difference noticeable? This is sort of a question about German
     made versus Japan made.

     Regards,
     David

Indeed it is. I have trouble telling it's photos from those of my 90mm
Sumicron!

The only one I've heard not-so-good things about is the new, low-cost
28~70mm (supposedly built by Tamron[?]) - again, presumably to Leica specs.
Does anybody have some first-hand experience with this lens?

Best Wishes for a great holiday and a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year
to you all.

David.
