Marc,

as I don't have a book on Leica-History and don't know exactly what
versions there have been untill today this leaves me a little bit
puzzeled.
I had a look into such a book and did read the 50mm Summicron-
chapter but I can't get it to fit with your explanations
(I don't remember everything in the book though).

Do you by "late-model" that you didn't like refer to the recent
summicron with integrated hood or to the
"through-eighties-and-early-nineties" model?
What about the black "seventies" model? I think this was the
predecessor of the chrome-only first-version Summicron
and must be the second version you mention?
Or was there only a change in the barrel between 70' and 80'
and both are second generation optically?
Which one do you call NF (no explanations about the DR needed).

I have a "early-eighties" and a "mid-seventies" model at hand
and cannot rent them! I moreover tend to the 80' model though...

 Thank you!

           Stefan

PS. I will be away from my computer for a week.
