All that happened is that the factory found itself in a position of having run out of chrome knobs for chrome-bodied M6s. Rather than delete the model they used black parts for about nine months. I *believe* it was just before they moved to Solms, but could be wrong. Like a postage stamp with a slight printer's flaw, these models now have a desirability that derives from their rareness.
