Subject: Leitz Focomat 1

Can anybody advise me about a Leitz Focomat I? The lens is VAROB Ernst 
Leitz Wetzlar 3.5 and is "extended" about an inch or two. Regular 50mm 
lenses won't focus. I am trying to mount a modern lens and need to know 
the extension measurement or a way to workaround. Regards, Bill Lawlor
