Slightly off topic warning.

Siemens is maybe the premier German conputer manufacturer. They also make
medical equipment.  My neighbor services medical equipment in the US for
Siemens.  His assessment is that it has superb mechanical design and
paleolithic electronics.  So, maybe it's not about capability but about
priorities for a given product line.
