"Initial Public Offering", a termed used on Wall Street and in the
brokerage houses referring to privately owned companies going public
with a stock sale for the first time. Every couple of years there is a
hot market for IPO's and this is one of the hottest in stock market
history.

Most companies with the product or management to take an issue public
make a large amount of money doing an IPO and really do not have to
generate any sales or profits in order to reap millions to the original
owners of the corporation.

If Leica is going public in this manner, I would think it is for fresh
capital to finance an expansion or to maintain their very existence in
the amatuer/professional camera market. Additionally, this action would
buy-in a good number of old and new customers to their product line.

Hope I have helped ! Clyde
