Jonathan Eastland is not very witty, but he is very informative and reliable. His Leica R Compendium, in my opinion, is not as good as his Leica M Compendium. However, both books are very good. Certainly, Eastland knows what he is doing. I suspect, though, that Eastland is not a big fan of the R Series. I do not own the Zeiss Compendium, but have seen it in the store. While Zeiss lenses are mostly outstanding, their cameras, in my opinion, are rather clumsy. I especially like the Cyclop on the front cover of the Zeiss Compendium. It probably would scare my dog although he is of Pommeranian lineage. I recently saw an Icarex with 5 lenses and stuff for about $ 800. Unfortunately, I am not a collector.
