Ahum....the estimated auction price by Auction Team Koeln in Germany 
was DM30-50,000. 
Christies, as a reference in that article, estimated UKP 40,000. 
One can buy a nice car for the difference between these and 
US$80.000....:-))

BTW current 'limited editions': 
Leica has (again) made a limited batch of M6'es, this time for the
50th anniversary of the throne of King Bhumiphol from Thailand. 24
carat gold plated, including 2/50 Summicron, and snake leather skin.
Sort of mixed environmental sponsorship; the profit made by Thailand
in selling these things for DM 15.000 will flow to a large
environmental project in Bangkok.
