Hi LUG'ers - Me too. The reason is that after a 25-year pause, I'm still a bit rusty and I haven't yet explored many of the films and developers that are out there. I shoot a lot of available light with lots of motion -- dancing, fashion shows, fencing, etc. and my camera of choice for that has really become the Leica. I think they designed that camera for those kind of images! My film of choice used to be Tri-X developed in D-76 at 1:1 for 11 mins. Now I have discovered HP5/Plus. But unlike Gary Toop, I develop it in D-76 (no dilution,8 mins). Very tight grain. Beautiful photographs using Summilux 35/f1.4; Summicron 50/f2 or Elmarit-M 90/f2.8. I will explore some of the recipes which others have tried. My problem is time. I don't have much of it and too much to shoot (and too many other things to do)! In the medium speed films, 25 years ago, I swore by Plus-X, developed in Rodinal, 1:50 and shot at ASA 160. Lovely images, nice tight grain, beautiful tonal scale. Enlargements to 40X!! But these days I'm starting to use the Agfapan APX100 developed in Rodinal (1:50). I've been using it for 120-film and with a 6X7 negative, there's just no grain. Gorgeous. I'm anxious to try it with the Leica. But for that I first have to get it from someplace as it's not available withing driving distance of Ithaca! I hope we're not violating some kind of LUG charter. But I'm learning a lot from the experts out there which I'm sure will let me use my Leica to its best.
