I too have major destruction of slide images that were made as little as twenty years ago and kept in relatively good storage, and I would recommend the book The Permanence and Care of Color Photographs: Traditional and Digital Color Prints, Color Negatives, Slides, and Motion Pictures. by Henry Wilhelm and Carol Brower. Preservation Publishing Company 1993, ISBN 0-911515-00-3. 1-515-236-5575. If permanence of image is a priority for you than this book will help you make some difficult choices.
