[Author Prev] [Author Next] [Thread Prev] [Thread Next] [Author Index] [Topic Index] [Home] [Search]Dear Leica'rs: After some months of silentely learning a lot from you, I finally have a question: I was given a 1957 Leica setup, comprising a M3 double stroke, a Summicron 2/5cm, an Elmar 4/9cm and a Summaron 3.5/3.5cm, together with a lot of other Leitz stuff, like filters, tripod, cases, etc. I have been experimenting the lenses and I found out that the Summicron is _very_ good, the Elmar is good, BUT the Summaron, although sharp, vignettes (even in B&W, let alone slides) and flares A LOT in larger apertures (4, 3.5). And 35mm is just the focal length I love!! Do I have a bad specimen (sorry, don't remember the serial number!) or is Summaron a so-so lens? Should I start saving for a Summicron 2/35? Or should I buy an Hexar ;-)?! Thanks for any information!
