Subject: Summaron 3.5/3.5cm vignetting!!

Dear Leica'rs:

After some months of silentely learning a lot from you, I finally have a
question:

I was given a 1957 Leica setup, comprising a M3 double stroke, a Summicron
2/5cm, an Elmar 4/9cm and a Summaron 3.5/3.5cm, together with a lot of other
Leitz stuff, like filters, tripod, cases, etc. I have been experimenting the
lenses and I found out that the Summicron is _very_ good, the Elmar is good,
BUT the Summaron, although sharp, vignettes (even in B&W, let alone slides)
and flares A LOT in larger apertures (4, 3.5). And 35mm is just the focal
length I love!!

Do I have a bad specimen (sorry, don't remember the serial number!) or is
Summaron a so-so lens? Should I start saving for a Summicron 2/35? Or should
I buy an Hexar ;-)?!

Thanks for any information!

Joao
