After all, Leica uses electronic shutters in some models. It's merely that electronics can fail (of course, so can mechanics) and even let you down if your battery becomes depleted. So, if you're stuck without a spare battery (you should never be in this position) your photographing will come to a screeching halt. The G1 will be easier for the tyro to use initially, yet serve equally for the more accomplished photographer. The M6 will force you to become intimately familiar with its operation, and, in the hands of such a person, be equally fast with the satisfying knowledge that low temperatures, dead batteries or failed electronics will not bother you.
