This is why I prefer using a 50mm on an M5 and the 35mm on the M6. The M6 has frame lines for the 28, so the 35mm frames lines are more easily seen. More importantly for me is being able to see what is outside of the frame when composing. This becomes more difficult with the shorter focal lengths. The opposite problem occurs (for me) when using a 90mm; the relatively small picture image seems to get lost in the full image of the finder. When using an SLR I rarely use a 50 or 35 as the image in the finder looks very flat. I find it fascintating that a much used focal length on one camera is avoided on another.
