Aren't the bodies just third-generation rehashes of the Minolta XE family of the mid-70s? Are they really as durable as the modern high-end Japanese SLRs? What about the lenses... Leica M design has always emphasized edge sharpness and contrast over raw resolution. Does the R series follow this design center? How do they compare with the Japanese SLR lenses? For that matter, how do they compare with the (presumably) German-designed Zeiss lenses used in the Japanese-made modern-day Contax cameras? I've always been curious about the R-series, but have never known anyone that actually uses it. Dave
