This week is all in Austin with items seen while walking around the neighborhoods. The first image is from Travis Heights which is a fairly old neighborhood just south of Lady Bird Lake. Because of its location it is fairly pricey but the residents tend to be artistic(the neighborhood holds art fairs twice a year). While coming across a foot bridge over a creek I found this item: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/don_dory_gmail_com/Austin+Signs/mailbox+and+sign+just+south+of+Lady+Bird+Lake.jpg.html This is a full image of a mural that is now gone. The owner of the pizzeria couldn't get the price desired for the restaurant so leased the building to a very entrepreneurial youngish woman who has opened an extremely popular breakfast destination. In any case I will miss this quirky murals that this establishment maintained: the entrance was a large replica of Elvis's late sunglasses: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/don_dory_gmail_com/Austin+Signs/last+shot+at+mural+of+closing+pizzeria.jpg.html Last, this is a fairly typical scene in Austin's independent coffee shops. I thought the mix of customer polaroids and staff posted items was a good mix: http://gallery.leica-users.org/v/don_dory_gmail_com/Austin+Signs/Coffee+shop+Westlake+Hills.jpg.html All the best. -- Don don.dory at gmail.com
